Wines of Chile USA is sponsoring the 3rd Annual StarChefs.com “Somm Slam”. The competition is a serious wine and food pairing competition which tests the skills of the professional sommelier in an entertaining format over a three day period.
Hosted by Master Sommelier Fred Dexheimer, this year’s event will challenge 12 competitors in high pressure blind tastings and a game-show style Q&A format featuring red buzzers and a live studio audience of 50 of their sommelier peers. It will be held Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at the historic Park Avenue Armory in New York City.
“We’re pleased to be involved with the Somm Slam again,” commented Lori Tieszen Executive Director of Wines of Chile USA. “It’s a great environment in which to showcase the diversity and terroir of Chilean wines. Sommeliers are tremendously influential to a very important audience, and this format will challenge participants to take a fresh look at wines from Chile.”
