When Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey Co-Founders, Brittany and Steven Yeng heard, and quickly saw, the impact that restaurant and bar “dine in” closures were going to have on the food service industry, they knew they had to help their community and had to do it fast. Their family has been in the bar and restaurant industry for over 10 years and were thinking about what they could do to provide the most impact to assist others, so they quickly committed to a couple of initiatives:
On March 16th, they utilized their social media platforms to announce a commitment of $500,000 to three organizations: The U.S. Bartender’s Guild Nat’l Charity Foundation (Bartender’s Emergency Assistance Program), the C.O.R.E. Gives (Children of Restaurant Employees) fund and the California Restaurant Association.
They donated $250,000 starting with their SKREW COVID-19 Campaign, a social campaign in which for every social share we would donate $1 to the USBG National Charity Foundation for their Bartender Emergency Relief Fund. It went viral almost instantaneously, garnering over 235K social shares, but still that wasn’t enough, they knew they had to do more. They committed to doing everything they could to help everyone impacted in the bar and food service industry—including those so valued from the back of the house. They know it takes an entire team, therefore, they decided to also work with Children of Restaurant Employees (C.O.R.E.), the California Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Cares Program and more, donating an additional $200,000 to these important causes.
