Acme Markets Inks Second Year Exclusive Contract With Rosati Ice And It's Hot Italian Ice Products

Fresh from its successful 2013 supermarket launch of Rosati’s Party Pails, exclusively in Acme Markets, Rosati Ice announced the introduction of a new 2 quart size Rosati Ice Party Pail for the 2014 summer season, together with a renewal of its exclusive supermarket marketing agreement with Acme Markets. The new Rosati Party Pails are available in Mango, Classic Rainbow (cherry, lemon & blue raspberry), Classic Cherry, and Root Beer flavors.

Rosati’s unique scoopability feature is thanks to Al Everetts, who observed that ice cream and Italian ices are often stored together in the same ice cream freezers at retail. Even though Italian ices need a slightly warmer freezer temperature (18 degrees vs. 2 degrees) to maintain their scoopable consistency, business practicality usually put the two types of products in the same freezer. Therefore, Rosati created a new formulation that would make his product’s texture manageable and enjoyable, even when stored at colder temperatures.

Rosati Ice was founded in 1912 by Sam Rosati, an Italian immigrant who made his first Italian ices cranked by hand in the basement of his West Philadelphia home. The company grew and Sam soon became known as “The King of Water Ice,” having his popular ices sold from horse drawn wagons throughout the city and at the New Jersey shore. In the mid 50’s, the company moved to its current headquarters in Clifton Heights, PA and management was taken over by Sam’s daughter Rosemary and her husband Jim Salomone.
